The In-depth Parent Training Course
Who is it for: Speech and Language Therapists (SLTs) to train parents who are undertaking regular therapy activities, in partnership with a therapist.
What is included: Eight videos of Therapists-delivered, professionally recorded webinars, handouts, parent quizzes, answers, course evaluation forms and trainer and trainee course manuals.
Content of the In-depth Parent Training Course
How does it work: Group training can be delivered face-to-face or through a hybrid online shortened version. The face-to-face option can be delivered over 4 half days. The hybrid version consists of 5 parent self-directed asynchronous webinars, two live online webinars led by an SLT and a question-and-answer session with the therapist. Once parents are trained, they can undertake therapy activities under the supervision of a therapist.

Who is it for: The videobytes are suitable for parents of children with cleft-related speech difficulties, and some videobytes can be used with parents of children with non-cleft speech disorders.
How might these be used: In a Speech@Home programme attached as a parent resource in the Therapy Programme Builder; potential for use with assistants.
The Short 2-hour Parent Introductory Course
What does it do: Gives information about speech therapy for children with cleft palate so parents have a basic understanding of what is involved.
Who is it for: Parents whose child is attending therapy or is on a waiting list or is too young to receive direct therapy where therapy is likely to be required.
What does it include: Six videos of 10-minute Therapist-delivered talks, handouts, and a therapist course manual.
How does it work: parents access a group two-hour webinar led by the SLT.
The Therapy Programme Builder
What is it: a drop-down menu system consisting of 185 activities with resources for the therapist to build a child-specific therapy programme efficiently. It includes a picture archive designed specifically for children with cleft-related speech disorders, together with a video archive of 32 videos demonstrating different ways to elicit consonants, 14 videos showing how each consonant is made, and demonstrations of selected cleft speech errors.
Who is it for: SLTs delivering therapy face-to-face, using telehealth or a hybrid of both. It has proven effectiveness with trained parents.
